#30: Solidifying some headcanons...
Cassidy and Wicke become very interested in contests and showcases. As Cass gets involved with them and the PAC, she determines to help Wicke bring this type of event to Alola--combining the two and allowing boys, girls, men, and women to participate. Call it a Concase. You can be a coordinator, performer, and of course trainer...and shall henceforth be known as a PERFORMINATOR. Duhurr. Hellur. It only makes sense to merge them, as they're so similar. Performance stage, battle stage; theme performance, freestyle performance. Why pick when you can have it all? (Always my motto.)
Those who don't wish to compete in the battle stages can opt for performance-only events. Results can be tabulated by combining judges' scores with audience votes.
They'll hold pokemon musical competitions as well. :3
Performances, and the freestyles in particular, are the best bit, so they'd get the most focus from my faves. {extended faves :3 | and pairings--additions above since comments ain't revisable}
The girls' supportive husbands and friends help out, and eventually their kids also start to get involved.
"I" would definitely count as one of the friends. :3 I've been envisioning myself-on-pokeplanet as looking similar to myself here, meaning basically a green-eyed Shelly #1. It's a given. Probably related to her. Namewise I didn't know whether to go with a favorite or what...felt like it'd be kinda right to use one that's directly connected irl, so there's a specific reason and you can't go changing your mind...so I thought Theodora "Dory." (Using the first name seems boring and Kathleen/Kathy is too "Oh well that's Ma...") Other faves are for pokemon, kids/other people (and ofc animals, characters, etc.) Besides, not only does Shelly look like me, but her name is short for my real first one of Michelle soooooo...yeah. (Man they were trying to call me back to the series in g3 but it didn't happen til right after g8. ;; Better late than never.)
Other event ideas inspired by dog or other our-world animal sports?
Conformation: My vision since the beginning, but probably the closest thing I've seen in canon so far is the Budew-judging side quest thing in Z-A!
Agility!
Frisbee/disc!
Heelwork-to-music+canine freestyle: Probably the nearest thing we've got to contests & performances.
Dock diving
Lure coursing/racing/flyball: Pkmn racing by themselves, ppl riding them, ppl being pulled by them (like skijoring & such); obviously we've seen quite a bit of racing
Herding trials/tests
Obedience/rally/tricks
Draft
Tracking/scenting, schutzhund: Well we know the Officers Jenny and other police use pkmn.
Field trials/hunting tests (incl. underground or in a barn; they'll probably continue mostly avoiding the matter of pkmn getting killed/eaten as they've done since the earlier gens tho)
Gimmicks to potentially use in "conformance?"
Mega --only usable by the pkmn that can mega-evolve
Z-moves --also only usable by certain ones, supposedly require guardian deity's presence (but have been used outside Alola)
(Terastallization basically limited to Paldea; Giganta/dynamax evidently only happen in Galar, except for Melmetal)
I guess the limitations apply in the show too. So, probably just megas, mainly. And z-moves.
Top dream-team picks:
[Alolan] Ninetales (+shiny)
Furfroux (+corded) (shiny's pretty much great in any/most)
ALLA DOGGOS (esp **first calendar page**, a few others)
Dragonair
Galarian Ponyta/Rapidass
The below "tennis team"
Liepard
Oricorio (dance/cheerleading squad)
Alolan Dugtrio
Other faves.
Altaria, Glameow, Fennekin line; Florges, Dragalge, other Kalosians. Fishies, flowers, flutterbyes/moths, birdies. Kitties (Glam, Litten, Sprig, Purrloin, etc. 'Lolans.) Shinx line. Espathra & co. (Paldean birds...but lotsa birds. So many. Lossa birbs.) Linoone, Quilava.
~
[legendaries very unlikely...but physically the coolest to see would include: suicune & the other doggy ones, dialga, tapu fini, meloetta, chien-pao & chi-yu, cresselia, articuno/birds, diancie, cobalion, virizion, keldeo, lunala & the cosmos, xerneas, horsies, regis (ice, electric, normal, steel, dragon, rock), resh, etc. UBs also unlikely, but Pheromosa and Nihilego and several others. Really any of 'em depending on the performance. xD]
*some favorite humanoid/bipedal pkmn, as selected for the "which ones would you pick for your tennis team?" question...but for anything where you'd want that kind of build, I hung onto that list:
Pheromosa
Gothitelle or Gothorita
Inteleon (& Drizzile)
Braixen
Meloetta
Gardevoir
Mienshao
Hitmonchan
Hisuian Lilligant
Simipour (or another monkee)
---
for boys/coed:
Xurkitree, Blacephalon, Alakazam, Sawk, Hypno, Sudowoodo, Golisopod; Toxtricity, Obstagoon, Sableye, Heracross, Toxicroak, Lokix, Heliolisk, Armarouge, Cinderace, Hakamo-o, Impidimp's line, plenty of other bipeds or possibly birds/hovering types; Machamp
...Beg pardon, Hitmonchan, I hadn't realized you were a 100%-male species! I've always thought the tunic and shoes could be a cute sundress outfit, and hence picked you for my "all-girl poketennis team"--but it can be both. ^^ After all, that's just a game thing. Surely in the anime, as it would be irl, most species are 50/50 and can breed. If one is male- or female-only, and not an obvious counterpart...they'd mate with ones of their egg group. Okay so, the mum is the one whose species comes outta the egg if two different pkmn mate. (And Domino has seen that rarely, Nidoqueen apparently can birth cute mini version of themselves rather than the usual Nidoran.) Which is how you'd tell which sex an all-one-sex species was, I guess...the all-female ones only breed with male egg-group cohorts and vice versa. It's not just that they look girly or something. ;p And since they do all evidently hatch from eggs, I suppose this stuff holds true for the series. Except I doubt many, if any, would be significantly more one or the other sex/gender. (Oh, I get it. Moth, him. It looks so different from Burmy and Wormadam that I always forget it's Burmy's male evolution. For so long I've just thought of it as a standalone. xD) I see the in-game point of the "7:1 male" set, including all the starters and then some--trying to keep them a bit rarer by making it harder to breed or catch them in the wild...but yeah, I ain't buying it anywhere else. Especially not if you try to look me in the eye and tell me that all of the following are much more often male (or in many cases even look the same in male form as the highly-gendered main appearance does): Primarina & Brionne, Inteleon & Drizzile, Braixen & Delphox, Floragato & Meowscarada, Chikorita & Meganium, Simipour, the Eevee fam, Amaura/Aurorus, Togekiss...
There are loads of very "male-looking" mons for sure, and some of those I also have to picture differently in female form. But most species can easily be either-or without changing too much, obviously...just like with real animals, where no matter which one they might "look" more like to us, they necessarily occur in both. Some pkmn have official gender differences. Most I would imagine having more subtle variations similar either to real-world animals, or just our human standards.
So you inherit moves from your dad and species from your mum...all-male species can reproduce their species with Ditto or their all-female couterpart...interesting. And the "gender unknowns" have to breed with Ditto--wonder whether that would hold true. Hm. I guess it could, but then Ditto would have to be one of the most common species in order to mate with all those different guys. Unless ofc they don't mate for life and just breed to reproduce as much as possible or something. ;p Which, yeah, is probably the case. Maybe raise one offspring and move to the next partner or whatever. How 'bout litters, is it always just one egg at a time? Hm hm hm. Well anyways, guess that's enough musing on that topic for now.
Seems like any Furfrou clip should be able to be any of the colors...do they just, naturally turn that color? xD Is it dyed and if so, how were these traditional patterns established--handed down along with the clips by decree of the Gods of Furf? *ponder* The cuts'd be fun to mix-n-match.
Just like it'd be fun to be able to mix/cross species.
Whelp. Anyhooser.
routine element examples: Music selection, very important. (As is what you, and possibly the pkmn, wear.) Swan dive, caught by flying pokemon right before hitting stage. Freeze stage, create ice rink, skate with pokemon. Dance with them. Be sure to dance through water; create shallow pool(s.) Sing with them if they can. Rhythmic gymnastics. Choreographed mock fight esp w/ Fighting-types. Tank with Water-types--synchronized swimming, mermaid act (TLM. 'Specially with the most mermlike 'mons, which're listed in the 87 current pages of tiniest-font, single-spaced, constantly-edited poke-blather documents. #2. Alongside the stuff re: pokesonas, fortune/astrological signs, mer-forms, etc.) Any kind of an act you could work out really. ("Well what kind of acts do you need, Ricky? What kind of acts do you need?") Incorporate any of the sports/activities/games/circus acts, even crafts.
Both couples=married with children. Got LOTSA name ideas at the bottom of this...but no way to be certain about 'em. 8/ Really any good names would suffice, but those at least have particular *reasons* suggesting 'em, which obviously are important to decision-making.
Guess there's also always Dominique and Annette/Annelle/Annabelle...
Anyway. I usually keep thinking 2-3 kids each. Maybe Fabwicke twins or triplets.
Talked a bit here about coming up with first names for Fabwicke. They're worse to lack than surnames, which most people are missing. Cassidy's an Irish name so for her I'm going with something along the lines of McGillicuddy, Mullaly, O'Connor, O'Neill, or McCullen.
I've always headcanoned, based on Cassie's line in Pikachu Re-Volts, that much of the time she & Butch ran a 'breeding center' at TRHQ, providing well-raised/trained pokemon for TR.
I've also always believed that whether type specialists or not, some trainers who've had outstanding success with Psychic types (e.g. their Drowzee, Faba's Hypno and Alakazam) may have psychic power themselves. Not unlikely since we know for a fact that a number of the top Psychic specialists do possess some paranormal ability of their own--Sabrina being probably the most noteworthy example.
