...and this which we've come across that's relevant to/copied from it...
"And Gladion blames himself for that like. Brother you were like 6 or 7. You were 2 ketchup bottles tall. What could you POSSIBLY do with this situation??
Dude became emo because he thought he shouldve fought the interdimensional monster jellyfish as a literal baby what kind of mental illness even is this (ocd probably)
I get it tho im an older sibling too"

Even assuming that Faba had his pokemon (on him) at that point. As Silvally's creator, he is indirectly responsible for her rescue. In this petrifying moment of sheer terror, he evidently thought that allowing Silvy to do what he was 'born' to do was the best course of action--and lo and behold, he was right. Had it not been for Silvally, I'm sure he would've been able to overcome fear-paralysis to take the next-best option.
Why wasn't Silvy at his side? Had he anticipated a UB encounter? If so, did he perhaps not want to appear "confrontational?" Was he, as a Psychic-type specialist, telepathically calling out for help? At any rate, it worked and Silvy did spring forth in time...
What were a couple of kids doing in a restricted area to begin with? Lillie had gotten lost and was trying to find her mom, Gladion comes running for her. We know they were in the phase of extreme maternal neglect by that point, for Lusamine fails to so much as notice Lillie's fear. (...of which the former's colleagues had likely been unaware.) The girl goes to live in the mainland estate and be cared for by Hobbes. Gladion says nothing, distances himself, then goes off on his journey and starts living in the motel.
I determined that if everyone, even within the story, was going to be such a jerk to poor Faba, then I was going to give the guy the benefit of the doubt and assume the best of him at every turn. Here was someone who'd had to watch his friend and mentor get sucked into another dimension whilst holding back said friend's wife. So he continues researching all by himself, only to have--of course!--the boss' daughter appear out of nowhere and get jellyfished. He'd be to blame if he was supposed to be babysitting that day.
Gladion's "I was too scared to be able to help Lillie" only makes sense with an implicit "even if I could have" attached. Hence a resolution to become braver, tougher. And 'self-blame' only makes sense if he was somehow at fault for her being there in the first place. It would follow that if, after facing otherworldly horror, he developed a desire to become the strong "man of the house." Certainly explains his wanting to abscond with the "UB slayer" for a training journey. Should've been even harder following the incident to sneak into where he didn't belong, but he apparently managed it. "Help her" wasn't fair to say, but understandable because he WAS shocked, frightened, and desperately appealing to the only other person present.
As to his age--the clue to his current one is the "middle-school arrogance." So 11-14. (I'd lean toward 13-14.) Making him 7-10 at the time.

"I wouldn't let a little kid get murdered by an alien lmao. Faba is constantly lying to, manipulating, and taking advantage of others for his own gain. Thats (that's) his thing."
-Neither would he.
-"murdered" All right, fair enough to assume the worst in an unknown situation. Let's anyway acknowledge that this Nihilego wasn't murderous, and more curious than evil. As well as the fact that they're all different individuals too, as evidenced by "Lillie II."
-That may be part of 'his thing' in the other versions, especially manga.

"He's the reason Lusamine was carried away into Ultra Space in the first place, and why Lillie is scared of pokemon forever. In the manga he pushes their father into a wormhole and then manipulates Lusamine into allowing a Nihilego to possess her then tells everyone it was his plan for her to "die a slow, painful death". [sic] Not really a nice guy. I like him as a character but he’s a horrible person"
Indirectly, unintentionally. Scarcely worth bringing up. Don't think you know what forever means. Manga is irrelevant; again, totally different person. One of the most-changed from one version of the story to another.

"I literally acknowledged he was terrible" How so? (Also people have got to quit spamming "literally" everywhere. Unless you need to clarify that what you're saying isn't figurative or hyperbolic, leave that poor word alone.)
"he throws the dangerous stuff to people under him as much as he can just to take credit for it" Where does this come from? When did this happen?
"i think he’s interesting as a villain. he’s NOT doing the right thing and he’s not reasonable in his intentions, he’s selfish and manipulative on purpose. he was written to be that way. i think it’s a disservice to him to try and ignore it. he’s interesting because of his flaws" He's interesting for sure. But what was meant here? How so? Why unreasonable, selfish...?

"I don't understand why he's being blamed for not helping lilly. he just didn't risk HIS life for someone else LOL"
Don't doubt he would, given the opportunity.

"Faba didn't actually care. Faba is basically the most evil aether person in the show"
Thankfully that one's gone because: Balderdash. Rubbish. Poppycock. Hogwash. Horsefeathers. Codswallop. Stuff and nonsense.

"why does faba have hitters im cryign [sic]" Taking a wild guess that that refers to people willing to go to bat for him? Oh hell yes. Every time.

"the second time? Definitely and ABSOLUTELY his fault and he was a dumbass for doing it"
Not to say that he *should* have tried to capture a UB for Lusamine, of course. But once again, he got barged in on. Sure Luse, bring the kids and have them stick around. Everybody who's conscious and all the pokemon can stand and watch Nihili snatch its favorite type of person (blonde female) and abscond with her. I mean.

Okay, some comments were obviously deleted/removed somehow because Idk what a couple of these others had been referring to. Whatever.
"lowkey, it looked like she encouraged his breakdown"
"HE THREW A NORMAL ASS POKEBALL AT A GOD"

The show was trying to make me hate the guy, but I saw through it all--so sure enough, after the first third it was: "All right, you called our bluff; outside of Team Rocket we haven't really got any true villains in Alola..."
"Adore the young heroes, glaze tf outta them, don't question them--whilst shitting on the adult character who's the actual most fascinating, lovable one here." This didn't work on me in Harry Potter or The Hunger Games either.
Frankly, he shouldn't have had to worry about getting in trouble. The punishment should've been "You endangered one of our most valued colleagues and loved ones by doing that alone, so you'll work under Wicke for a while."
Even in the game...Gladion being made acting president rather than him or Wicke? Lusamine getting to return to her post while he's demoted? Steaming pile of Tauros dung, that is.

Lessee what else we gotsch hurr...

"using pokemon to abuse children"
...
...
...
...let's just move along, shall we?
"broke into Gladion's room"
He was admitted by the receptionist.
"wiped his team"
Because he's an excellent trainer. With the type disadvantage.
"knocked him out"
Loaded language. He used hypnosis to induce sleep.
"stole his partner"
Recovered something (or rather someone) Gladion had stolen.
"got his boss kidnapped and possessed"
Once again, he and the wormhole were intruded upon.
While he must bear the lion's share of blame for that incident, it resulted from a small series of unfortunate occurrences and was the opposite of intentional.
"also gave lillie amnesia"
He did not "give" her anything. Lillie had a repressed memory of the Nihilego incident. Not amnesia.
"the fact faba would be a hypno"
He would be a shiny Espeon.

A fair question would be why Faba didn't simply erase Gladion's memory of the motel incident. Why trust that he wouldn't go straight to his mom--although, okay, touche, he also hadn't gone to her with the initial Nihileginfo. But still. Memory-erasure capacity could be overpowering. Once you start playing the old game of "Why Didn't They Just ___?" then the majority of fiction falls apart. For that matter, Faba should've nipped the whole mess in the bud four years back and just wiped Lillie's memory of the event as soon as possible after it took place. I'm guessing he wouldn't have been capable yet. Maybe he deliberately caught and evolved a Drowzee, teaching it what must surely be one of the most difficult and rare skills a pokemon can possess...maybe it attained the ability just recently, yet possibly he also could've felt conflicted and wavered before being spurred into action? Same with Gladion then though...because presumably Faba would've been aware of the elder sibling's presence? Unless fear prevented him from registering Glad's voice, and the kid fled the scene, allowing Faba to escort Lillie out...? Or something? At some point Fabs would have realized that she didn't remember what happened, but of course her brother certainly did. Just luck that he said nothing.

And yes, in the manga he (a completely different he) pushed Mohn through the wormhole. His character there does far worse things than any other iteration--but even then, he still sounds like one of the most interesting people in the story. (I say sounds because I've unfortunately never seen the manga in person. I've read summaries of what happens on Bulbapedia, heard a lot, seen many panels/pages...but VeeVolt on YouTube hasn't gotten there yet in his "walking you through everything that happens in Pokespe" videos...should be next!) It seems as though this might've been a crime of passion, and definitely motivated by lust/infatuation--seizing an opportunity to get rid of Lusamine's husband so that he could comfort and pursue her himself. Still rejected, he sent Plumeria to assassinate her. ("If I can't have you, no one can.") Twisted yes, though he did suffer guilt and nightmares about what he did to Mohn. Thought he wouldn't know peace so long as Lusamine lived. Only her torture and the disruption of her family could alleviate his own torment. Dark stuff, but intriguing indeed. Additionally, from what I can gather...while he's a jerk, he's not really responsible for that thing with the kid who somehow raised the money to buy his grandpa's island back or whatever. Because there was no formal agreement and Faba had offhandedly stated an amount that was obviously not serious. The foundation was well within its rights to reclaim and use the island after his grandfather's passing. So, idk, the manga goes nuts. Seems fascinating. How dark and twisted he managed to get in that version--while somehow remaining completely adorable?! x'-} With lots of cute little details that, just like certain game material, help inform my conception of him in my favorite version of the story? To say nothing of the TCG manga...!

"Faba in Pokeani (thus far, from what I've gathered on my dashboard)" Whatever you do, do NOT trust your dashboard. I trust only my car's.
"Is the sole reason why Aether is #badnews due to his Type: Full and UB plan" Say what exactly?
"is personally responsible for Lillie's traumatic experience with Nihilego" No he is not. It was an accident, but the greatest blame rests with whomever was supposed to know Lillie's and Gladion's whereabouts at the time.
"has even made Team Rocket disgusted with his actions" In an absurd, ooc moment of hypocrisy--for they have done infinitely many infinitely worse things than attempting to erase traumatic memories. On the list of villainous acts, that ranks...well, it's barely even on there at all.
"threw fan favorite starter Rowlet upon discovering that it wasn't Nebby" Was cheesed off, felt fooled, threw a bird that can bloody fly and happens to be the shape and size of a dodgeball...xD Not one of his finer moments, but c'mon.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

It's unbelievable the amount of outright misinformation you'll continually stumble across, too. The falsehoods, lies, total myths and fabrications...
For instance, these pervasive SM game ones.
"lusamine was crazy because she was poisoned" Somehow this got parroted and spread like wildfire, becoming widely and blindly accepted despite being suggested NOWHERE in the game. (Seemingly born from the lack of desire to believe that a woman could be bad on her own?) She did not go crazy from somehow being long-term poisoned. That isn't even hinted. She came into contact for the first time AT the climax, during the fusion. (Which of course hosts don't normally do with Nihilego, but she did. It's a key part of her story.) Perhaps it could've been potentially interesting to have had her get exposed to the toxin such that instead of its usual short-term host-enhancement/inhibition-removal, it stuck around and slowly drove her bonkers. But no, she did that on her own.
"lusamine was in a coma" Huh? Wicke communicated that the motherbeast incident took a toll on her and she's hardly roused since, but that just means she's been lethargic and not getting out of bed much, sleeping a lot. (Tired, run-down, listless, popping out at parties, very unpoopular. But the answer to all her problems was in a bittle lottle of Vitameatavegamin!) Actually, she had to go visit Bill in Kanto to help remove the last of the poisons. But she wasn't slipping in and out of a coma, or in one to begin with. That would've called for a statement to the effect of "we've been unable to wake her."
Oh, here's a doozy: "the aether employees who fought you were 'brainwashed' by nihilego toxin" They absofuckinglutely were not either. WHERE did you even GET this idea?
"guzma's dad (*cough and/or mom cough*) beat him with golf clubs" ...Guzma broke his own clubs. Probably over his knee or whatnot. Anger issues. It's kinda weird that some people think the parental-abuse idea is canon; that's a real interpretive leap.

Key Nihileginfo:
"awakens the host's own capabilities and boosts them to an extreme extent in order to protect itself. It injects the host with a sort of neurotoxin to achieve this effect. This neurotoxin of Nihilego's is incredibly stimulating and inspires feelings of extreme excitement and a lack of inhibition in its host. In other words, anything or anyone that a Nihilego latches on to will have its native skills forcibly activated to their fullest extent and will then act as it naturally desires to"

[ and for this guy here ]
Yes. It wasn't pure mind-control, though; that's not how Nihilego operates. In the anime she'd been extremely negligent for some time. The abduction occurred after she decided to get more involved with her kids again. In every version she had been a good mom at one point, and eventually returns to that. She may be at her best in USUM, even though they left in some of the 'crazy' SM stuff that makes less sense in the Necrozma story.
She had the fascination with and desire to meet UBs, and latent potential for the mania demonstrated in the original game. They keys to Nihilego's parasitic effect are: "awakens the host's own capabilities and boosts them to an extreme extent," "stimulating and inspires feelings of extreme excitement and a lack of inhibition," "native skills forcibly activated to their fullest extent and will then act as it naturally desires to." Annihilating the ego, if you will, to let the id run free. The results come from within the host (or in certain cases merged being), with the whole thing reaching an even greater extreme if one actually fuses as Lusamine did. The big part of her that was curious and willing got unleashed. (And tbh for the *drama* they had everybody and their pokemon stand stock still and wait for it to steal someone.)
